Variables in articles
in progress
Steven Hagting
Have an option to insert variables into an articles such as $phonenumber which can be managed from a central page.
This will make it a lot easier to update multiple articles that contain the same variable without having to search for the specific articles.
Another example this could be used for is product prices. For example you could say 'For use case X you could use $product1 at a cost of $product1price.'
As cake on the icing, an additional option to view the articles that contain a specific variable would be great.

Very interesting. We can't wait to have access to it. Entirely again with the commentary of Vincent Connelly.

Hey all! We've begun sketching out the idea for this and will start w/ the devleopment soon after.

Emil Hajric Looking forward to this! I assume we will have a place to find all of our snippets for updates/modifications?
Vincent Connelly
Emil Hajric this is perfect!! I think there should be a Variable manager, that allows you to see what articles the variable is embedded in, permissions who can edit a variable. Also, a variable insert within the WYSIWYG.

Emil Hajric First look is great, thank you!
Justine Leslein
Emil Hajric Agreed with Vincent, definitely would want to see a variable overview of some kind and permission settings.

Ability to reuse repeatable chunks of content
Natalia Stashkevych
Sometimes small pieces of content need to be reused (e.g., confidentiality close, contact details, etc.) and it would be great if you had an option for this. For example, through saving and reusing snippets.

Would be also great to have variables like, Article first published date, and Article last update Dadatete. Author of Article ......
These could be used in Templates to add them where you want them.
Michael Scholze
Yes! This would even be better if the variables could have individual CSS classes each, so we could give them a styling. For example:
e.g. a phone number with grey unformatted text
a product variant with pan-class colored borders and background
a disclaimer remark in yellow and bold

We are thinking we could use this variables idea when working across multi languages. For example, for Australian articles we use 'Centre', but in US articles we use 'Center'. In AU articles we use ABN, but in US articles we use EIN. There are many other examples but here's two. Currently we write articles in AU, and then paste the content into the US localisation and then have to manually find all the words and change them. Ideally it would be great if there was some sort of automated process that changed all of these for us and it would be a lot less work for us to do.

Bookmarks Within Articles
Lynn Marino
Would like to be able to bookmark a keyword or phrase and reference it throughout the same article (and potentially in other articles in the future). I do not want to use the table of contents feature, I would like it to be a link.

Hyperlinks in Glossary Definitions
Tyson Hallums
Currently, you can not add links in glossary definitions. This would be very useful as a way to blanket provide a link to instances of a word, without having to manually make the word a link to the article every time.
