Insert elements of an article
Marissa Fegan
It would be extremely helpful to be able to "insert" only specific elements of an article rather than the entire article. For example, say I am creating a new article and need to insert info from another article but I don't need the entire article - just one or two sections of that article. This could be done via headers similar to a table of contents or possibly anchor links to include only specific elements/sections of one article into another.

Confluence did this by adding macros with excerpts - which is a bit tedious to manage but probably the easiest way to identify what to insert.
Having "section" markers on the side of articles would probably work as a means of identifying them, which would also work nicely as a bookmark for links. e.g. @linkname#sectionname.

I'd like to see an example of how people currently use the insert articles functionality, because I find inserting articles into other articles rather useless without the capability in this request. We would really benefit from this feature.
We tried to have them do this as a feature request, but we were told it wasn't possible without backend changes. :(

Caleb Scharf When our team inserts articles, it is generally within an accordion if we anticipate the readers to commonly need the existing information (without having to open it through a link in a different tab).
We have also had to break a LARGE article into several sub articles for management purposes, because the content was too long. The sub articles are only accessible to the authors, and then they are inserted into one large article that appears seamless to readers. This is not terribly common for us though.
We also apply the same strategy if there are steps/processes that are used in multiple procedures. The sub article contains the otherwise repetitive information, but does not always standalone (and is only visible to authors who manage it).
It would definitely be nice to have the ability to only insert segments of an article.

KHub thanks for the example.
I can see Inserting into an accordion being useful.
We attempted to break different steps into different articles and then insert them to make up a single article, as you have done, but it gets complicated to manger pretty quickly.
Our KB has an custom article preview feature we bilt in so when a user clicks a hyperlink to another article, it shows a preview of that article.

This would be amazing! I have many elements that are repeated through various articles and it can be a pain to remember to update them all.

Would definitely be useful

Fully agree it's needed for us also
