the category page should be fully configurable / editable like a normal article. So you can offer the user a formatted introduction, additional links, images, etc. - everything that a normal article enables. (Category-pages in this way - like article-pages are offered by many other platforms, e.g. various wikis, knowlegdeowl or confluence.)

In this context it is also important that the search finds the category page. We are missing that at the moment too. but the feature request already exists?

Currently you can only define a "category description". This appears on the "landing page" of the category and below that all subordinate categories and articles are automatically listed - that's good and the automatic listing should also be kept (below or elsewhere). Maybe even switchable (show / don`t show the automatic list).
